[And as Horatio is walking down the street to find his badge, gun, and the Welcome Center he senses he's being watched. Without his weapon, he frankly feels naked so he's a bit more on-edge than usual. Still, the best way to deal with being on edge is to not show it. Thus, he's going to try to keep on walking, albeit with a weary eye]

[...And thus, a rock impacts lightly with H's shoulder. Horatio isn't sure what to make of that, but he's going to turn and- is that a dog or a person? It seems to be some hybrid of both. That's odd-]

[Either way, he's going to put on his disapproving look and more importantly, his disapproving tone, which has been known to make many a petty criminal feel instantly guilty:]

Oh, not really... Actually, you could just sit down there for a moment and try not to move around too much? [Points at a bench just across from where he had been sitting... even though his ears did start lowering at the guys tone]

Well I can't very well draw you if you look like some kind of pissed off hippo... unless you want me to draw you like a pissed off hippo...

[Ponders] And I'll answer your questions about this place too while I'm at it.

[...Draw. Draw. H is perplexed there, but he is also without his weapon or badge and this is a place where he's not sure how to handle this. Still, there is a sense of humor to be found in this man in front of him - if you can indeed call it a man - so...]

James. [Pulling out a few pieces of paper and a new file]

James. [Heh-] Well then, James, my name is Lieutenant Horatio Caine.

[This is said with a... it's not self-important tone, but the tone is one that commands respect without really trying. And thus what he says after seems comparatively minor after an almost regal introduction-]

And I would like you to tell me where the Welcome Center is.

...[Starts drawing away]

[And... not telling him. Well, perhaps the man didn't hear him. So to bring the point home again-]

I thought... we had a deal.

[A stern tone]

Hmm? Oh, yeah, we do. There's no point in sending you off before I finish is there?

[Pauses in his drawing and instead starts writing notes next to the sketch, mumbling something about "cops" & "adults" under his breath.. as he changes shape into something distinctly raccoon like with entirely different clothing that was really quite steampunky in aspect]

[...Well that's bizarre. Still, even if H does show some surprise there, he collects and rallies in record time. He waits there, patiently but also with an air of "hurry it up then, sigh" all calm like]

I... suppose there isn't. [Still, there's a distinct line of sarcasm in that tone]

You're the first person not to flip a biscuit when I changed shape. [Goes back to his drawing] Though I guess for some people it's not that interesting.
