An open thread is a post on a blog or frequently updated website where readers may comment and discuss any topic that they choose. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_thread
So, as mentioned, this is an open thread on all things Mhalachai. Ask anything you want. I'll answer anything. Except how I plan to

- so do you want to get back to writing Anitaverse (apart from wanting to finish WsIP), or is the magic utterly gone?
- based purely on your understanding of the character, and unrelated to where you think canon may be going, do you think Anita should/would ever take the 4th Mark from JC? (This counts as a "you" question 'cause I'm asking for your take on it! Really, it counts!)
- what sort of music do you like? What sort of art?
- what manner of bribes are you accepting to get you to read/review something long-ish and incomplete? ;)
I don't know if I want to get back to the Anita-verse. I said I was going to stop reading LKH's stuff, but I fell for it, reading the preview for the next book, and something in me seriously died. I don't know if you've read it, but the Anita in that book was *not* the Anita I fell in love with. Because really, to have this much dedication for a series, there was serious emotion. I can't see that Anita in what is coming out now, and it hurts, in a way. That said, I can't see stopping the AB fics. I have the endings in mind... but I can't find the energy to reconcile my Anita with the canon Anita

- I haven't read the preview; I'm thinking perhaps I shouldn't. The series in general has gone from something you don't want your English teacher to know you read, to something you don't want your mother to know you read, to something you don't want your shrink to know you read.
- Agreed - if nothing else, what happens to the immortal types she's tied to (JC and Damian) when she ages?
- . . you mostly lost me after "Music..." but that's cool. :) I like some classical, and can't think of a way to catagorize what I like in the way of more modern stuff.
- point taken. Sorry. I'm all hyper-obsessive and twitchy and possibly being a selfish twit. Feel free to swat me.
I agree with you about the shrink thing. It's like... seriously.
I thought Anita stopped aging. Didn't someone say she was looking more youthful? I thought the third mark had done that... yet another thing that was contradicted from ealier in the series. But whatever.
You are not a selfish twit! This is your baby!
!!
I will read it, promises. Tell you what -- next week we should AIM or something and we'll talk.
Hrmm, re: Anita and aging - maybe? I don't remember. There was also the possibility that she'd already done the 4th Mark thing with Damian, and was already immortal (thus making it make even more sense for her to go ahead and take the plunge with JC, 'cause Damian's like, a metaphysical dishrag, and she's dragging the whole two-tiered triumvirate thingie down by not completing that final step on the first tier where she's servant and yet having somebody dependent on her on on that level on the second tier, where she's master. It's like . . being a subcontractor and hiring more subcontractors working below you. If you're going to pay them, then you need money coming in from above, or else you either stiff them or go bankrupt (which, hrmm, actually sounds sorta like what's happening with her and the increasingly needy ardeur and Damian's repeated almost-dying). Or . . at least this makes sense to me
