Slept more or less OK last night and don't recall any dreams, but much more restless the night before, and at least a couple of dreams stuck.

For those of you who haven't been following along on Facebook, a clogged sewer pipe backed up and flooded my basement. I discovered this two weeks ago when I went downstairs to do laundry and discovered an inch or so of not-quite-water on the floor. I was going to take Charlie out of her tank to hang out for a bit this afternoon, but she was darting around enough that I figured she might be hungry. She looked a little more relaxed a little while ago, but she started whipping her tail (kind of like a vestigial rattle motion) when I touched her to pick her up. OK! Lesson learned: remember to check Charlie's tank cover is secure after guests are over and checking her out. :-) She escaped again overnight, but luckily managed to knock over some stuff near the front door that noisily clattered on the foyer floor and woke me up at about 5:30 ( Read more... )

Charlie has really eaten very little in the last several months, and I was figuring she was done for the winter anyway. But tonight she was acting pretty hungry, so I defrosted one of the mice in the freezer. Sure enough, she grabbed it right up! So, I defrosted the last of the rats, and she gobbled that one, as well. Last night's dreams, I think during the stretch after 6am when I was dozing after waking up at 4, for some reason included meandering through costumed crowds at a con, in a relatively compact version of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis with its multiple convention levels and curved stairways and escalators between floors. This morning, I woke up an hour before my alarm clock was set, after a crystal-clear dream about my snake being really hungry and needing to be fed. She's been very finicky this spring, but tonight she showed clear signs of being actually hungry. She certainly grabbed at tonight's rat, but she's taking her time swallowing it.
