At the end of my first visit yesterday morning to a new physical therapy office, someone in a mask came out of the back with another patient and excitedly said hi to me. I have no idea who she was!
I’ve always been a little faceblind, not always able to connect the face of someone I know with their identity, but it’s sure been exacerbated the last couple of years with many people wearing masks.
The physical therapy context should narrow it down, but I don’t think it was the physical therapist I’ve seen several times in the past, though I haven’t seen that one in years. I don’t recall recognizing the names of any of the practitioners, though I’ll look again.
Today’s day-long “retreat” at work also offered lots of familiar faces, some of which I could place and some I couldn’t. One I immediately recognized as someone she wasn’t! Glad I didn’t call her by name. Others I figured out a rough context for but wouldn’t have come up with a name.
The name tags were only marginally helpful, since they had smallish print and were on lanyards that meant we were often looking at the blank side. After I noticed that, I wrote my name, at least, on the blank side of mine.
