Title: The Edge
Possibly part 1 of ?
Author: Traceuse-Passement
Spoilers: None
Rating: T
Pairing(s): Eventual Chuck/Nate
Disclaimer: I own nothing. If I owned Gossip Girl, the cast would be all guys...and it would basically be Queer as Folk. Also, this is my first Gossip Girl fic. I'm just starting to get into the TV series and its only because I'm a slash-fanatic since Chuck and Nate look so cute together. This is when the Gossip Girl fans are the "Ew, whats wrong with you?" and I'm like "Too bad". XD
Anyway, a little bit behind this story: Its based off Mirror's Edge. Mirror's Edge is a game for the Xbox 360 about Runners in a Government controlled city using the rooftops to get messages from Point A to Point B while the Government is trying to eradicate them. While doing this, they use a technique, if you could call it that, called Parkour. I'm introducing to Parkour to the series because it needs more flavor than drama. Of course, Nate isn't a runner; he's just introduced to Parkour by an old friend.
Summary: Nate couldn't remember the last time he felt so free. The city sparkles in the sun. Why could something so clean be so dirty?

Nate can't remember the last time he felt so free.
Freedom wasn't teachers hounding on you about college. It wasn't girls rubbing their chests against you, palming you through you jeans, trying to get a taste. It wasn't your best friend trying to get you to have a drink with him or sleep with the twins that he brought home. Freedom wasn't reading Gossip Girl everyday to find the latest victim of her torture. Freedom was being at peace with yourself and finding the Edge and all you had to do was make the plunge.
With the breeze whipping through his brunette locks, his grip tight on a pipe and his reflection in the glass, it 's perfection. He presses his finger tips to the glass. He knows exactly where he is, what floor it was, and who's apartment it was. He gazes past his reflection, catching the eye of its inhabitant, a Mr. Charles Bass, his long time best friend and frankly, the only man he would ever love. Chuck's fixing his tie, like every he does every morning after fucking something that moves. Nate's been watching his best friend for the past few days, making sure he hadn't done anything stupid. Nate has been worried; he's never disappeared this long.
Chuck says something along the lines of "Nate, what are you doing?" and Nate only smiles. There's a whistle and Nate tilts his head back, catching the eyes of his best friend, Maeve. She had introduced him to Freedom. She motions him to the roof and he can only comply.
Maeve stood on the ledge of the apartment building, looking out amongst the skyline. She motions him to stand beside her and points out. Nate does what she says, looking out. With the way the sun was angled, the city sparkles, like it was clean, too clean, but Nate knows otherwise. The city's filled with liars, cheaters and sick fucks and Nate only shudders. Why could something so clean be so dirty?
Maeve looks at him.
"You've found the Edge. The Mirror's Edge," She whispers, "Now make the Plunge." (A/N: Game reference! XD)
Nate smiles, turning around. He faces towards the roof's door and his eyes widen to see Chuck standing there, face sweaty. Nate nods to him before taking his foot off the ledge, letting it hang off. Chuck takes a step towards him, as if to stop him and Nate shakes his head.
"Nate," Chuck calls, "no."
"See you, Chuck," Nate only answers and falls backwards.
He hears Chuck scream and then every is silent. This was the Plunge, his freedom. Everything passes by quickly, even his own reflection. He smiles, reaching out, grabbing a pipe attached to the building. His heart's racing, adrenaline pumping through his veins. If this was Freedom, he didn't want it to end.
