New Project Begun

Last Monday while proctoring a test I typed in the last of the revisions on Novel #2. The next look at it I'm going to hang off on for a bit, at least until I know issues near the beginning of the book that the local novel editing group finds.

Last Tuesday I started the rough draft for Novel #4. The revisions ran so late I didn't have time to take off. Plus, I had taken off much of the weekend before from writing.

This is another horror novel. It's set in my current city, which is why I want to write it this year (since I'm still physically in that city). The plot is from on a dream about college-aged students discovery the mystery and danger to the secrets of a slightly Lovecraftian world. Based on my plotting session Friday (while waiting at a doctor's office) I think it may bend a bit towards Southern Gothic. But, getting there is half the fun, and I'm still in that discovery portion of the writing.

I think of as today I'm up to over 4K words, and the plot is slowly moving forward. All the main characters have been introduced, now I break up their college fun. I need to make more time to just write on the weekends. I wrote some this weekend with the video game "No More Heroes II" in the background, not looking while Jedi died a few times (I hate dying in video games). I also need to find those smaller slivers of time in my mornings, at lunch, and find energy to write the nights I don't teach.

Dreams so far have played a role in all of my novels, except the first SF one. Someday I should write more about dreams. I can have very vivid dreams, that at least in unconscious ways I can often control. They have also become a good source of horror and dark fantasy ideas. But more for later, I need to grab food.
