So you may be looking at my current music... details will follow later...
This is my first post since September, but with the inspiration of Will Ackland (storminorman, FTE Class Summer '05) I've decided to post occassionally again. Obviously Facebook has been dominating my internet presence and that takes time away from this LJ.
I just got home from a trip out east over the Michigan "Spring" Break (more like mid-winter, but it signals only a half a semester left to go). I am really looking forward to getting out of school in April now!!!
So visiting Syracuse was neat because it was basically an Andover reunion. I was able to meet up with some of my high school friends and multiple Michigan students visiting our friends there for the weekend. I then go to experience Syracuse Basketball as they snapped Georgetown's 11-game winning streak. Needless to say, the Cuse fans were pretty intense, partially due to the fact that they sell alcohol during the game there, unlike Michigan where fans are sobering during the event. I had a guy fall over onto me twice, but overall it was a pretty uneventful game (I'm so glad I didn't decide to be a rebel and wear my G'town sweatshirt).
The city of Syracuse is... well it makes me appreciate Ann Arbor a LOT more. It always seems dark and gray in the sky, and once you step off campus, the town gets a lot more sketchy.
After Syracuse, I was able to visit Jess (another FTE friend!) at her college on the way to Boston. I hadn't seen her in two years so it was really neat! We're hoping to get some of the group back together this summer :)
In Boston, I went to Lauren's with teh intention of watching the UM-MSU matchup; it was supposed to be nationally televised on ESPN... no problem right? MIT has its own cable service, however, and gets such channels such as CCTV (Chinese State TV) but not ESPN!!! ESPN IS ONE OF THE MOST BASIC OF THE BASIC cable channels!!! WTF!!! This truly is a nerd school now! So instead of watching my beloved Wolverines upset MSU, I had to settle for watching score updates on Lauren's computer while we watched "Crash."
The following day, I was treated to a nice bowl of Boston "Chowda" near Fanueil Hall. I've been to Massachusetts a couple times, but I appreciate Boston more and more each time. It is such a wonderful city and I certainly am considering ranking it above Chicago as my favorite city (I really dont' like NYC).
Then on the way home yesterday, we found a radio station 89.9(?) in Massachusetts that looped "Macho Man." We had to have been listening to it for a good half hour until we left the radio range of hte station, but it was hilarious listening to it. Who puts a station on that ridiculous of a song forever? Then again, in Florida, there is a station that plays "Margaritaville" constantly. However that makes sense givin the fact that it is South Beach. But come on, Macho Man?
