So it's been five months since I last posted on this thing, but I figured there'd be no better time than tonight... since I'm frantically trying to finish my first paper about war themes in The Iliad for my Classic Civilization class... at one in the morning.
It's been a lot of fun here, although I haven't had much free time at all. Marching band consumes my life; from 8-21 to 9-2, the first game, I'd leave my dorm every day at about 8 am and get back at 11 at night from rehearsals. Even though school has started, it's still intense because we only practice 1.5 hours a day, but we learn a new show basically every week so we have to learn the formations and memorize the music quickly.
It all paid off though yesterday.. err two days ago now that it's monday. We went into South Bend, Indiana and DESTROYED the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (47-21). For those of you who don't know football, lemme sum up the significance of this massacre.
1) ND was ranked 2 in the nation, Michigan was ranked 11.
2) We haven't won at ND since 1994
3) Brady Quinn, ND's quarterback was the frontrunner for the Heisman trophy (given to the best college player of the year)... not anymore after the swarming UM defense forced him to throw three INT's and one fumble.
4) 47 points is the second most points ND has ever let up at home in its' 100+ year football history.
5) We basically took ND out contention for teh national championship (at least made it a LOT more difficult).
6) We are now ranked 6 in the country and in the National Title hunt (if we can keep winning)
7) Michigan holds on to still be number one in wins and winning percentage of all college football programs (If ND would've won, they would've passed us in pct. pointsl they're currently number two in both categories)
Our halftime show is on the NBC Sports site. IM me if you want the link.
Albeit, I had to get up at 530 and didn't get back home until 130 am, but it was so worth it. All those arrogant ND fans trash talking to us as we were practicing and marching to the stadium finally got their due as we racked up the points on the scoreboard.
In other news, I'm worn out. I'm actually looking forward to hopefully going back home on the 29th of September to see an Andover football game and rest for the weekend (no band, because michigan's away at Minnesota).
