Catching up on TV

Oct 10, 2013 15:53

I've had a slow start to TV this fall. WHile I am not getting my own work done, I'm still somehow too busy to actually watch TV. IDK. But the last few days I've caught up on a few. Nothing real in depth, but some general thoughts. Spoilers!

Ah, I understand. Yeah, way back when, I figured it had to be something to do with the fact she wasn't a surgeon anymore. It was good to see more background for her. Ugh, I love Joan so much.

Did you not like Arrow last year? I can't really put my finger on it (beyond the snark and existence of Felicity, and the hot people...) why I like it so much, but I love it. Or well, I guess it's because for all its filming flaws, it's sort of what I wanted Smallville to be? It's dark and edgy and far less cheesy since they're keeping it a non-powered verse.

Ugh, I still have not had time for SHIELD! I haven't watched Sunday's OUAT either. I did watch my shows on live TV last night, though, which was nice. And I'll see SPN tonight, of course.

I'm hoping that, too. Generally, I'm okay with coupledom (given I love MSR and Castle/Beckett), but in this case, I am more against it because it would feel like a) disrespect to the LGBTQ community and b) a disrespect to Joan herself. Regarding a, it would be putting Holmes and Watson together ONLY because they are now of the opposite sex which makes it "okay" (See Starbuck/Apollo in the new BSG, though I fully admit to being a huge fan of that ship). Changing the gender does not have to change the relationship - they can still be nonromantically involved regardless of whether they are two men, a man and a woman, etc. While I tolerate that in Marvel Steve and Tony are together when Tony is Natasha, it's because that relationship is my ship anyway and not as dominant in mainstream media the way Sherlock has been over time. It's easier to say "fuck you, Marvel" when their idiocy is not reflected to a larger audience. And for b, Joan was his sober companion, she was there in a role that shouldn't be sexual. Not to say they haven't moved ( ... )

Totally loving Elementary as well. I don't necessarily want them to go down the "ripped from the headlines" path like they did tonight, but I have no complaints about anything on the show. I also continue to be amused and entertained by the twitchy, impatient way Jonny Lee Miller plays Sherlock. I'm always watching him.

I'm glad you're still watching Show. I too am tired of the co-dependent thing. And I completely support Sam in his desire to have his own life, and honestly, I would have been supportive of his going with Death, too. Of course we wouldn't have a show then, but at the end I want them to be healthy and have a mutual brotherly relationship, not the weird, obsessed thing Dean has now. God, Dean, grow up! Jeez. I want more Ezekiel too because Tahmoh is a babe and I loved how he portrayed Zeke. Moar.

I was looking forward to maybe Cas being able to help Hael and guide her a bit but NO, because wimmin folk cain't be messin' with the menfolk on this show. Of course the hospital counselor was evil too. *sigh*

Haha, last week's ep was...interesting. I also had an out of body situation for it that made it weird as hell for me (I know one of the actors). But I loved Joan and Sherlock in it and the emotional scenes were great ( ... )
