"Christmas Without Turkey Is Like CNY Withou Ang Ku Kueh!"?!?!

That was the phrase immortalized by Jason. Maybe Shirley's bimbotics rubbed off on him!

Anyway, traditionally my Christmas eves were spent with Michelle and her boyfriend, but since she just reached back from Australia after staying on a few days post-Amanda's wedding, Ryan, Morri and I decided to have a get together with the gang.

Of course ideas were thrown around, but we decided on having a gathering at June's place after we got to know that Alex might not be around on Christmas eve. It was So decided then. We would have a cozy dinner and do stuffs together rather than plough the throngs of town or anywhere else.

We met around 5pm to shop for groceries to cook up dinner, and it was settled that Damian would cook spaghetti cabonara, and we got 2 roast chickens in place of turkey. So after much chaos in the supermarket, we made our way to June's place. Alex decided not to join his colleagues and joined our little party.

So there we were, milling around waiting for dinner to be served, and we started playing a game of Old Maid (anybody remember that?!), which I got my hands on along with Donkey, Snap and Happy Family. We decided to up the challenge by adding in Donkey and before dinner, we upped the ante by adding in Happy Family. It was hilarious and fun to see who got hold of Old Maid amongst that many cards!

Dinner was then served and as everyone was hungry, we ate a great deal, but left an even greater amount for Morri because he was arriving late after work. When Morri arrived, we waited for him to finish before continuing the absurd game. My delicious cupcakes from Paisley And Cream was then dished out and it was cleared up pretty much fast so that we can carry on our game.

By then even Snap was added in and we thereby christened the game "Donkey Snaps Old Maid's Happy Family"! Hahaha, we got so rambunctious that I was worried June's neighbours would complain! After a couple of rounds, we decided to eat the log cake, courtesy of Shirley and Jason, before watching some old Stephen Chow movies. The gathering was turning out to be a nostalgic affair, what with vintage games and vintage trashy movies.

After a few snippets of a couple of movies, we decided to end the night as June was very tired and all of us were also starting to show signs of fatigue. We then made our ways home.

It was truly a fun and wonderful eve, spent with great friends, having great food and doing great stuff!

Thank you Morri, Ryan, Chris, June and Alex, Diane and Damian, Shirley and Jason for the great company! May all of us have a great Christmas and even better New Year!
