Finally, we were off and away to Gold Coast, Australia for Michelle's sister, Amanda's wedding. After months of planning, email conversations, shopping for ideas, accessories and stuffs, and ultimately packing my stuff, me and Michelle's boyfriend endured 7 hours of butt pain to join Michelle and her family for Amanda and Tim's wedding.
It was a relatively simple affair, but chaos reigned backstage. First and foremost, my curling tong decided to explode during the trial makeup session, which was the day before the wedding! Well, I had to be glad that did not happen on the day itself though. Secondly, I specifically told Michelle I needed to start at 8am on the actual day because I had to do the 3 bridesmaids makeup and the mother and Amanda's makeup and hair, but ended up Michelle and bf woke up late. So it was that the moment I pinned the bridal veil in place, that moment she had to be whisked off into the horse drawn carriage.
But, it was a nice, stately and simple affair, at a little chapel by the lake of the resort they chose for the wedding. And the most gratifying thing for me was that the photographer came over and congratulated me on a job well done for her makeup.
After the wedding, everyone was beat, but the next few days were a frenzy of shopping and sightseeing. We did not visit much places, just shopping around Surfers Paradise, Harbour Town and what not. But we did go to Sea World, although we skipped Movie World.
All in all, loved the weather there! Hot but not humid, and cool and windy on some days. Was ok with the apartment we stayed in, though Michelle was grumbling and profusely apologising about putting us up there. Told her that it was ok and serviceable, so it was fine with me. Shopping wise, nothing much impressive.
Not impressive, but I ended up with an overweight check-in luggage and 3 bags of hand carry on flight! The culprit? June and her craving for Twisties Wicked Cheddar, which I lugged 6 packets back for her!
