Sooo The Black Dahlia movie is coming out this weekend. I thought it was just another dumb Hollywood movie...which it still may very well be...but it's based on a true story. It was an article in the Red Eye Tribune today as well as other grotesque murders that have been made famous because they were never solved.
I googled the story and it drew up pictures of what she looked like in real life. She was a LOT hotter than the actress they hired to portray her (which is funny because it's usually the other way around)
Come to find out, she was a young Hollywood starlet trying to make it in the business by sleeping her way to the top and she fooled around with the wrong person. It was even a known fact that one of her lovers was Marilyn Monroe...of course THAT drew me into the story even more. After Beth Short (the black dahlia)'s death, Marylin had a standing order that flowers be sent to her grave every month. The murder hasn't been solved to this day. She was named The Black Dahlia because of her raven hair and the fact that she dressed in black for the slenderizing effects.
I feel ashamed of myself for my morbid curiosity about the morgue pictures...but I got what was coming to me because I almost lost my breakfast. My parents say that the 30's 40's and 50's were a golden era and there were no bad people like there are today. This belief is stated in order to support their foundation that the end is near because now people are worse than ever "as in the days of Noah." This crime happened in 1947.
I think there have always been sick people. It takes a sick person to mutilate a body and have sex with it post mortem. I've been left in a dark mood. At first I thought it would be a cool movie...but I think I need to skip this release.
