Here I am reading my LJ at 4:00 am, and my wife calls me because she's been woken up by gunfire.

I go to the window and can hear it too.

It sounds like a war.

No, this isn't Lebanon.

Last time I heard anything like it, it was an armed robbery at the freeway interchange about 2 km away, when robbers ambushed a security van.

Our puppy Mardigan, who was poisoned by thieves early on Monday morning, died this afternoon. He spent Monday and Tuesday night at the vet, and came home last night, very thin, and very hungry. My wife woke me up at about 4:00 am, and said something was wrong. The kettle was missing and the back door was standing open. Then we found her work computer was missing, and my bags with my vestments and liturgical books.
