Which army?

Sep 02, 2006 07:21

Recently poliphilo had an entry about young men going off to war or altruistic and idealistic reasons, to fight for other countries or causes than their own.

I could empathise, and could say that I have sometimes, in a Walter Mitty-like fantasy way, imagined the pocketa-pocketa-packeta of machine guns and all, but my pacifist convictions have kept me from going that way.

And then I found this quiz, which was quite hard, because my pacifist convictions kept getting in the way. I would look at a question, and think, no, you are in the army, so you can't answer this as a pacifist, and so i would answer as a militarist. But then on other questions my pacifist convictions were stronge, and I refused to answer as a miliarist.

The result?
