So...It's been a while since I've posted. I've been at my Mom's, with no internet access and no drive to actually write anything but Torchwood and Doctor Who fic. I'll have to find someone to beta it, not to mention I think my moods were fluctuating when I wrote the fic. First it was going to be funny, and then it started to get depressing, and then it got kinda OMG-ish, and then it kind of descended into an everything-works-out-happy-ending-fluff-fest. Emphasis on the fluff-fest.
Um. My mom finally got married! YES!! But now, its kind of odd to have a different last name than my mom. But not a bad thing, although guaranteed to be confusing in the future.
No job at vet clinic. Damn. Going to end up asking to volunteer at the local Humane Society Monday-ish, and attending a fundraiser auction for Coleman Larsen. He's a cute kid, has a twin brother, and also has a rare form of brain cancer :( poor kid. But he goes to my church, and it sounds like the auction will be fun, and I'll have a chance to give my dad more than twenty bucks and a card for Father's Day. I'll probably pick up my sleeping bag while I'm at it for the camping over the 4th.
My brother is gone for the week, which is nice. Let his grandparents on Malissa's side deal with him for a while. But he had an older classmate die Wednesday, which is really depressing. Damn storms.
Oh yeah, Wednesday we had tornadoes, and it was BAD. Killed at least four people, all of whom were boyscouts huddling in a cabin, which was their only shelter. The kids were killed when the fireplace fell on them. Its kind of depressing, you know, to have all of these really young kids die, especially if you know them or are at least acquainted with them. When Jess died, everyone took it hard. When I was in first grade, a second grader I didn't know was killed in a fire, and we all took that hard as well. Its kind of hard to adjust to having something that sudden happen.
So. Storms. Almost every night for the past few weeks. At least two roads near our house are sort of washed out, which means we have to take the long way if we want to go to town. Well, one road has water up to the railroad tracks, and the other road is literally being eroded away. It's like a bunch of tiny water falls, but its cool to look at the layers on sediment that make up the gravel road. And we've got at least one field that is 2/3's lake (not ours, but its someone else's). This lake literally takes up four fields and part of the road. One field, across the road, and into the field across from it, and past two more fencelines into two other fields. We've got water to spare. Floods, tornadoes, and more floods, and more tornadoes. Ain't that fun?
Can't sleep. Dammit. Almost 4 in the morning, too. Maybe I should go reread more of
maderr's stuff - she's been churning out some damn good slash fiction lately.
On another note...my new icon seriously amuses. Makes me giggle every time.
