I really enjoyed how you set so much of Remus' life at St. Bee's. I also liked that Remus went to take care of his parents after James' and Lily's deaths. That was a much more positive reason for his being absent from Harry's life than he just ran away. I loved Moody's and McGonagall's matchmaking! Wonderful story! :)

Adorable. I loved that Remus had the pictures in his pocket. That's so sentimental, and so like him. :)

Bravo!

Wow, I think you've done a fantastic job of creating a real sense of place and history -- I feel like I've been to St. Bee's now and understand what it means to Remus. I love all the detail you've incorporated about his backstory and how significant the place is to him, and I was especially taken with him taking care of his parents and then renting out their house and traveling for all those years -- perfect explanation of how Remus got by all those years he was apparently unable to get a job and alone in the world! Also really thought the way he wrote of marriage as something he didn't need because he had his friends and his family was very poignant -- and I can see how that would be a habit he'd kind of cling to even after, always believing that he's meant to be a loner ( ... )

Hee! I think there must have been something in the air about Remus finding comfort by the shore, lol. I really like the way you've made this beautiful place Remus's childhood home, and shown how he fits into the village and how the beach has been important at different stages of his life.

There are so many insightful ideas here about Remus's character and the nature of his relationship with Tonks; I especially liked He'd known then two things, that she was the love of his life and that it could not possibly end well (boy, does that represent the R/T relationship through HBP, lol), and Letting his friends back into his heart had opened it up to her, which really seems like what must have happened. Also the thought that it was Tonks turning away from him, finally, that made Remus realize he couldn't really let her go. And Tonks's insistence that her parents' reserve with Remus wasn't because of his condition.

I like the little Mad-Eye moments in here, too, like “take care of that silly girl.” Some of them could probably even be ( ... )
