I think post-hospital fics are probably the hardest R/T to read and write, primarily because the pacing is everything. But you have absolutely captured that air of time standing still, almost, as everyone tries to figure out what's the next thing to do, now that Dumbledore's dead. The only thing for Remus and Tonks can do is move forward together -- and I think you've also done that perfectly.

It's all about comfort: Remus with his beans-on-toast, Tonks with her little Auror training game, and when they meet up they realize that the only real comfort comes from each other. Yes they have a lot to talk about, but I think because Remus has done so much thinking over the past year, and they've discussed things a million times, the best course of action really is to let actions take over, and to comfort each other in the best way they can. The physical must be attended to in the wake of what's happened.

And I like that once they give in to this, and acknowledge this, a series of very typically R/T things happens: they laugh over House-elf voyeurs (hysterically done, by the way), and their mischievous side takes over in their evasion of Filch. Almost as if in some way Dumbledore's death has given them permission to go back and find the selves they were at Hogwarts, and before Remus' mission. This seems like such an important thing for them to rediscover as the war kicks up yet another notch. Going into it as they were would be a scary thing: now they're renewed.

I'm rambling like crazy here, my apologies, but I just think this is such a wonderful version of post-hospital. The tension is both relieved and heightening, and the way you wrote the sex, in your typical poetic and image-rich style is wonderful. For some reason I particularly like this phrase: joy and pleasure flushed though her body. It's such an interesting use of the verb, and conveys so many different things at once.

And of course I really love the beans-on-toast story. Outtake? ;)

Brava.
