When your mom tells you "you can go to any school you want" or "money is not object" she probably isn't just saying that-it means she will make certain sacrifices for you so you can be happy. It isn't just a load of bullshit she says for the hell of it. Just trying to see things from her point of view.
Overall, you have plenty of friends and family willing to help you through this time and to help figure out the next stage in your life. Unfortunately, money HAS to matter at least a little in your situation...it matters in any family, not just yours. When you have an entire household to run and bills to pay, its just natural. Is it fair? Of course not. Obviously money actually doesn't matter all that much with your family-thats why other family members are willing to help and your parents are trying their best to give you what you want and trying to save where they can. Maybe you'll understand more once you're out on your own and have to make a living yourself. Overall, to them you are their son and the only thing they want is to make you happy, even if they have to do without.
Hope this helped at least a little and gave you another perspective on things.
