This is almost exactly what I was hoping for when I heard that a television series was going to be made of The Dresden Files book series by Jim Butcher. The just aired original uncut two-hour pilot based on the first book, Storm Front, captured the feel of the books much better than the reworked series that was aired on the SciFi channel.
