Beowulf: The Director's Cut ( Standard DVD / CG Animation / Release Date: 16 November 2007 / MPAA Rating: Unrated; originally, PG-13 / Running Time: 1 hr., 54 min.; originally, 1 hr., 53 min. ) was interesting technically from an animation stand point but uninteresting otherwise. As a matter of fact, I watched a lot of the movie in 1.5x speed - a nice handy feature on my PS3. Even Angelina Jolie animated essentially naked did very little to interest me in the story. I cannot even recommend renting this.
Plot Outline: For those of you who do not remember the plot of Beowulf (like me): The warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel who is terrorizing towns, and later, Grendel's mother, who begins killing out of revenge. Yes, that is essentially the plot. There are some minor twists.
Animation: The animation is the motion-capture, computer-generated style seen first in The Polar Express. I think Robert Zemeckis has improved the technology. It did look even more life-like; although, it is still noticeably computer-generated. I personally still prefer a good hand-drawn animated movie.
Voice Work: The voice work was good with many recognizable voices (and faces since it was motion capture).
Watched 2008: #23 of 100.
