Hey ya'll. It's me again. Busy day for me, I know. I can go weeks and barely make one post and here I am making three posts in one day. I know, hard to believe. But, before I get all involved in another story I just had to tell everyone about this great fic I finished this morning.
I finished reading '
Ramble On' this morning by
gaelicspirit . And I just gotta say. If you haven't already read it, and you love Dean and the brothers relationship, then you need to read this right away. I absolutely, loved, loved, loved this story. In fact, last night after midnight I still had about 6 chapters to read and had to force myself to quit. But, this morning I couldn't wait for the evening to finish reading, so I got up earlier and spent my usual morning routine time finishing up this fic. Well worth my time.
The author's summary of this fic goes as follows: This story is set in Season 1 between “Provenance” and “Dead Man’s Blood." When a hunt goes sideways, the brothers are hurt and lost in the northern Minnesota woods. They have only each other and their skills to get them out...and they aren't alone. They are being tracked by the 'perfect hunter.'
If you like a lot of hurt Dean, then this is truly the fic for you. He really gets whumped here and there is a lot of protective Dean in this one as well. Dean's concern, love and protectiveness over Sam in this story is beautiful to witness. He extends himself to the brink of death in order to make sure Sam is safe. If I wasn't already an obsessed Dean girl, I certainly would be after reading this. I just love Dean. He is such a selfless character and will do anything for those he loves, no matter what the consequences are for himself.
Gaelic has the voices of Dean and Sam perfectly and this story was just a joy to read. A third original character comes into the picture half-way through the story and helps Dean and Sam, so you get some good third person point of view about the brothers' relationship as well as his impressions of Dean and Sam, which I love reading. There is also some good mention and talk about John, and you all know I love John, especially his and Dean's relationship, so I love any thing I read where that dynamic is explored. There were many times throughout the story where I was shedding tears, so keep the tissues handy. And the epilogue of the story, I was in sobs. When you read it and take into account my comments here, you will understand the reasoning behind my sobs. This fic is 16 chapters long, but each chapter is only about 6-10 printed pages. So, it can be a rather quick read, depending upon how fast you read.
I so loved this story and heartily recommend it. Enjoy!!!
