I haven't answered these questions in a long time, so I thought I would answer the questions for today. They seem simple enough.
1. What tradition makes the holidays for you? When I was growing up my family always had this formal dinner on Christmas Eve, Beef Stroganoff. YUM!!! Then my mom would read a short Christmas story she liked, we would read the Scriptures of Jesus' birth and then open 1 gift each. Decorating the tree was also always something that made the holiday for me. Now that my parents are gone and my brothers do their own thing with their families, I'm left alone to figure something new out. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I am having Beef Stroganoff on Christmas Eve. So good.
2. Have you ever gone caroling door to door? Yes. I went caroling a couple different years with the youth group from church. Then we would go back to church and have hot chocolate. Fun times. ;)
3. What holiday tradition would you happily see the back of? Not sure. Christmas has become so commercialized these days. I would love it if we could go back to the simpler times when I was a youth. Not so much commercialism, but more reference to why we celebrate.
4. Have you ever spent Christmas away from your home and family? Away could mean a couple different things here. I've never been out of town for the holidays away from my family, in that respect; but I have spent the holidays away from my family, meaning, I didn't spend time with them on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
5. Did you put milk and cookies out for Santa? I never did. Not sure if any of my brothers did either. I don't think so. My mother grew up in Holland. They never did things like that when she was growing up. Although in Holland they do have Sinter Klaus. I'm not sure if my mom did anything with him either. Anyway. We never did any of those kinds of things growing up. No cookies for Santa, nothing for the Easter Bunny either. No Easter baskets, no nothing. My brothers spilled the beans for me about Santa when I was 7, so no real fantastical childhood for me.
Well that's it. Thanks for readying. Happy day!
