I am currently in Season 8 of my current rewatch. I've had a hankering to watch SPN lately so I've been viewing a couple episodes a night. Last night I watched 'Goodbye Stranger' and 'Freaks and Geeks'.
'Goodbye Stranger' is the one where Castiel comes back into the picture after having been trained by Naomi to kill Dean. Thankfully he could never go through with it. Crowley also comes back into the picture after being absent for a couple of episodes. This is the episode where we also say goodbye to Meg.
My question is about Crowley. Crowley is the King of Hell. He has greater powers than any regular demon, and even more than he did as a Crossroads Demon. He can kill at will. So, as I was watching this episode, Crowley comes in and kills Meg and any other demons with an angel blade. I just have always really found it strange that before the angel blade was introduced Crowley would kill with the flick of his hand or snap of his fingers. But, ever since the angel blade came in, he used an angel blade to kill. WHY??? He didn't need it. First off, how did he get one. I can see why Meg would want to carry one around and Dean and Sam, but Crowley doesn't need an angel blade to kill, so why bother with using one? That has always bugged me. I feel it would show Crowley being more powerful and fearful if he were to use his powers of waving a hand or snapping fingers to kill.
And then, when angel blades were first introduced it was only angels that could kill angels, but then everybody was killing angels. This is one weapon that they kept changing the usage of it according to their needs. This was one weapon Show could have done better with regarding how it can be used and who can use it.
'Freaks and Geeks' - well, Krissy still bugs me. Such an arrogant little girl. There are 2 characters in this show that I absolutely detest. One is Krissy, the other Claire. UGH! Hated it when they were on. Then there is one little timeline inconsistency in this episode that irritates me every time I watch. I bet you know what that is. It's after Dean and Sam have been to Victor's. Dean goes interview the girl who was attacked by the vamp and Sam stays at Victor's. The next scene is the morning, Victor is saying good morning to Sam and Dean is at the hospital interviewing that victim. That whole transition was handled horribly. This was an episode written by Adam Glass. I'm surprised he would have such a horrible transition between scenes. A seasoned writer like him shouldn't have such a glaring error in the timeline of an episode.
Anywho. Just some thoughts I had while watching last night.
