In other news...

...because I've been busy this week (with things other than work, many of which were fun or useful, so no worries) I'm a few days behind on reading LJ and (to a lesser extent) fi-uh. I have a good shot at catching up tomorrow night if you people don't post too much. ;P

I am brimming over with things I want to post about, myself. Mostly noteworthy experiences from the past week and miniature book reviews. I am feeling very enthusiastic about one book I finished this week and another that I started this week, and that enthusiasm has retroactively applied itself to other books I've read recently. Perhaps tomorrow.

I do want to say that I printed out your recommendations regarding Europe and have been studying them offline. Wow, you guys really came through! Thanks! You're all so well-informed and persuasive that you threatened to cancel each other out.

We are currently leaning towards Barcelona and London. I think maybe more strongly towards London. There are three major reasons for this: (1) We know a number of people in the UK and would like to meet up with some of them if possible. (2) Airfare and NWA's new direct flights from Minneapolis to London (3) Relatively convenient access to Paris via the Chunnel, essentially giving us a shot at two major cities. We only have one week to work with, so if we want to see two cities it needs to be fast and easy to get between them. moroccochloe - your comments regarding construction and so on in London were very compelling, but it occurred to me that in one week we'd never have time to see everything anyhow and perhaps restricted choices are a blessing. If we can't see Buckingham Palace that gives us more time to go see Versailles or something, n'est-ce pas?

(Also, once upon a time I was a bit of an English history nerd - a fact of which I've been reminded because one of the books I'm currently reading is about Shakespeare...)

And, just for the hell of it, here are the two best videos I've seen this week (fi-uh folks have seen these already):

Dinosaur Rap - courtesy of our Star Wars group

Food Court Musical - courtesy of Bobo
