So...the job interviews today were disappointing.

Job Interview #1
I thought this interview was kind of odd. I interviewed with a very nice, elderly, Indian man. He just asked me some very basic questions. Then he said I could ask him questions, but before I was able to ask anything, he wanted me to go into another room and type up why I would be good for the job/why I am qualified. He told me that 100 words should do it. After that, I had to take some kind of intelligence test. It was a worksheet with about 12 questions on it.

Thanks to google, I was able to find most of the questions.
I'll bold the answers I picked, even though I know some are wrong.

1. Which one does not belong?
a) A1
b) E6
c) D4
d) C3
e) B2

2. Mary had a number of cookies. After eating one, she gave half the remainder to her sister. After eating another cookie, she gave half of what was left to her brother. Mary now had only five cookies left. How many cookies did she start with?
a) 11
b) 22
c) 23
d) 45

3. The price of an article was cut 20% for a sale. By what percent must the item be increased to again sell the article at the original price?
a) 15%
b) 20%
c) 25%
d) 30%
e) 40%

I can't remember what I picked for this one. I'm not very good with percentages.

4. Which one of the letters does not belong in the following series: A-D-G-I-J-M-P-S
a) D
b) I
c) J
d) M
e) P

5. Which one of the five is least like the other four?
a) BOTTLE
b) CUP
c) TUB
d) FUNNEL
e) BOWL

6. Which one of the five is least like the other four?
a) WHEAT
b) HAY
c) BARLEY
d) OATS
e) RICE

7. Which one of the numbers does not belong is the following series?
2 - 3 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 14 - 15 - 30
a) THREE
b) SEVEN
c) EIGHT
d) FIFTEEN
e) THIRTY

8. A spaceship received three messages in a strange language from a distant planet. The astonauts studied these messages and found that "Elros Aldarion Elendil" means "Danger Rocket Explosion" and "Edain Mnyatur Elros" means "Danger spaceship Fire" and "Aldarion Gimilzor Gondor" means "Bad Gas Explosion".
What does "Elendil" mean?
a) DANGER
b) EXPLOSION
c) NOTHING
d) ROCKET
e) GAS

Then he gave me an application and told me to fill it out at home and mail it back to him. It was only one page that asked for basic information - name, address, phone number, previous employer info. I could have just filled it out there and saved myself the trouble. Before I left, I was able to ask him how many people worked in the office. He told me usually five, but currently, there were only two people. Then he added that his wife used to work there, but she died last April. Oh boy.

I think this job would give me good experience, but I really can't imagine working there. The man was really nice, but I think it would be awkward working in an office with just him and his son. Plus, the job sounds really dull, and I think I would die of boredom.

Job Interview #2
I interviewed with a guy named Gary, and I didn't really like him. There was just something about him that bothered me. The interview was fine (I didn't say anything too stupid or didn't blow any questions), but I didn't get a good vibe from it. Just like the previous interview, he said I could ask questions, but then after only two he basically ended the interview. I felt kind of rushed out of there. I doubt I'll get called back because it seemed like I was under-qualified for the job. Whoa. Freaky. As I was typing this, the company's commercial came on the TV. Is that supposed to be some kind of sign?

While driving home from the second interview, I was feeling really down and depressed. I was questioning if I would ever get a job, and if I needed to make some drastic changes in my life. Luckily, my dark mood didn't last too long. I feel okay about everything now. I just have to keep believing that a good job will turn up soon. Too bad I'm not so good at thinking positively.
