Let's talk about movies...

As I mentioned yesterday, my plan for the day was to see some movies. First up was Pineapple Express. It was hilarious. I felt like I was laughing through the whole thing. James Franco was great, and I felt kinda guilty that I still found him attractive even though he was kind of gross. I also really liked Danny McBride in this movie. I haven't really seen him in anything else, and he cracked me up every time he was on screen. After that, we decided to stay and see Step Brothers. It was funny at times (especially the first sleep walking scene), but pretty stupid. I wouldn't say it was horrible or necessarily a waste of time, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Because of everyone involved with the movie, I was hoping it would be funnier. I think with this movie, if you want to see it, go ahead. If you have no interest in it, then don't see it, and you probably won't miss much.

Before both movies, we seemed to get a lot of trailers for comedies featuring teenage boys and their quest for sex. It was a little annoying, but there was a trailer for Sex Drive, and I actually want to see that one because it looks pretty funny. Then a trailer came on and at first, all you see is Michael Cera in a car. As soon as she saw him, my sister leaned over and said very seriously, "We are seeing this movie." Heh. She didn't even know what it was yet, but she sure does love Michael Cera. That movie was Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. I'm not dying to see that one, but I'm sure I'll go with her when it comes out. I also got to see The Tropic Thunder red band trailer. I've been wanting to see this movie for a while, and this trailer made me want to see it even more. As soon as that trailer ended, my mom leaned over to me and said very loudly, "We are seeing this movie." Heh again. She wasn't even copying/making fun of my sister because I know she hadn't heard my sister's comment. Like mother like daughter.

We also have some movies from Netflix, so my sister and I watched Grave of the Fireflies last night. She was the one who had heard about it and really wanted to see it. It's also in the top 250 movies on IMDb and has good reviews. I think it's an important story to be told (war and all the horrible stuff that goes with it), but I didn't like it. I feel like I can't even explain why I didn't like it. I guess I was mainly bored. And maybe there's something wrong with me because the ending is supposed to be really depressing, but I didn't feel sad at all. I don't think I was really emotionally invested in the movie.

The Savages is supposed to be arriving today, so that will be the next movie to watch.
