Saludos desde Lima!

Thankfully my flight was a very easy one. I didn't sleep at all from Saturday to Sunday, and by the time i was in the plane at 7 am, i was ready to pass out. Not only that, but i took one of the Ambien pills that Jamie's mom gave me. I was awake for the take off and next thing i know it's "hello Bogota!" My transfer there was of 40 minutes, so even though i was very drowsy, i walked a bit through the stores in the airport and then i was sitting in a plane again on my way to Lima. That flight was a short one, so it was easy to sleep all the way through it.

Today, my grandma told me to go to her room when i get a chance. I thought she was giving me a Christmas present or something. She receives a small pension check every month, but since the only expenses she has to deal with are some medicines and whatever small things she wants to buy, i know she mostly saves to give money to my brother, my sister, and me. She really surprised me though. She told me she will give me some money for Christmas, so i can get myself some t-shirts. Then she handed me a gift all wrapped and all. She told me that this was an advanced gift for when i get my degree as a doctor. She said that she knows it could be about two years from now, so she wanted to make sure she gave me something in case something happened to her.

She gave me one of those fancy Cross pens and told me that she figured it would be a great thing for me to have "as a doctor and as a professor." Man, i've never been so touched. I appreciate a lot when someone gives me a gift. I really don't get many, so for me, the intention of one really means a lot regardless of what it is. After i asked her how she bought it (since she can hardly see anymore), I didn't know what to say when she told me that she actually went to the store with my aunt to get it personally.

I am so touched. I want to have that pen with me all the time and use it often, but i am also so afraid to lose it. I'll kill myself if i ever do.
