We now live in Fremantle, a suburb just south of Perth. It's a cute little city, with tons of cafes, a great weekend market, a couple of delicious breweries and a great vibe. We're staying in this TINY one bedroom apartment just a few blocks from the train station and from the main strip. It's fine, and nice to have our own place, but it's $2000 a month! When I think about it I panic... So I'm trying not to think about it. Thankfully Jade is working so at least somebody will be able to pay some bills. Yikes.

I'm still working my Calgary office job, but it's really hard to be responsible and focused when Maclean is always around and wanting to do something, and when I'm still kind of on vacation mode and I'd really rather be doing pretty much anything but working.

I also really want to put together a business plan for my nutrition career ideas, which was part of my deal with myself for coming back to Australia, that I'd take the extended time to work on this stuff! Come on McKinnley..

We've been to the beach a few times, although the surfing beach takes an hour and a half to transit to. I miss having a car.

Yesterday we went to AQWA, the Aquarium here. It was actually super cool, with a gigantic tank full of sharks and fish and rays and turtles, and a moving sidewalk that goes in a circle underneath it so you can see all the sea life swimming around you. So cool. There were jellyfish in tanks, tons of coral and strange fish, and a petting tank, I love petting! The rays in the petting tank were so friendly, they'd come up and rub against your hand when you put it in the water, kind of like a dog... I want one...

The other day our friend Chris's roommate went golfing with Mike, then offered to take us all up to another area of the city to visit his parents and try to see some kangaroos. We actually saw one Roo, which was neat, but kind of far away. His parents cooked us a lamb roast and we went for a swim in their pool. Australians are super generous and hospitable and friendly, it's refreshing and super awesome.

We've been to the market a couple of times over the weekend, picked up a fridge full of fresh fruits and veggies, and have been eating delicious home-cooked dinners, which is refreshing. Mike long ago added all the lost padding back onto his stomach, and Australia has been making Jade and I soft around the edges, so being able to cook is a relief, on the hips and our wallets. I think we're going to try and find a yoga class, we'll see if it actually happens.

All in all, life here isn't too shabby. It's a bit overwhelming to think of being here for another 2 months, but we have plans for the next couple of weekends, then Mike will be heading out so Jade and I can get back into our own routine (it's hard for me being pulled in the middle).. Did I mention there's only been one day where it was below 30C? Hot hot hot! But we're trying not to complain. :-D
