We survived our long flight and 43 hours with no sleep. (Yes, I counted.) All in all it was a fairly uneventful journey. Kirill was waiting for us at the airport, made sure my Visa was activated, then guided us through Sydney's bus system towards his house.
Managed to stay awake and sight see all day, I think we were even decent company, weird. The weather is gorgeous (warm and sunny but not hot) and the city is stunning. I was here 9 years ago, but I don't think I saw much more than the harbour. The Opera House was just as amazing as I remembered, and being in Darling Harbour was a little bit trippy. Never expected to be here again, but I'm happy I am.
Being with my sister on a constant basis is AWESOME. I think Kir Kir might make me a little crazy soon.. I need to keep reminding myself that he's letting us stay at his place for free, took an entire week off of work to be our personal tour guide, and has planned out so much stuff to keep us entertained, you don't get a better host than that!
Today Shackles meets up with us, Yay!!!! Then tonight is Nick's birthday party. Rob made the fatal error of posting on his Crackbook about meeting up with Jade and I in Sydney and it showed up on my wall, so I'm 98% sure that Nick now knows for a fact that I'm here. Oh well. The whole reason for not telling him was so that I didn't have to deal with the hype, and I didn't. I'll call Tom this aft and we'll make a plan to show up at the par-tay tonight... and take it from there.
That kind of blows my mind a little.
The last two phone conversations I had with Dessert ended with him going, "Ok, I gotta hang up now" as he tried to hide the fact that he was crying. Breaks my heart.
Life. Crazy. No surprise, that one.
I'm happy to be traveling. I'm happy to be in Australia. I'm happy to be experiencing life and the world again.
Jade and Kir just got up (we slept like rocks for a blissful 10 1/2 hours last night... Feel great this morning. So long jet lag!!!) so it's time to get showered and find some FOOD! Did I mention Sydney is ridiculously expensive? Ah well.. soon we'll be in Asia and living for $15 a day.
travel is life
