2004: A year in review...
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
I was truly happy for an extended period of time. Those periods of darkness and depression that usually leave me sitting alone in my room dreading the world around me seemed to disappear. I also lived outside of North Carolina for the first time. Oooh, and I snowskiied. Best decision ever. Oooh ooh! And I drank legally. HOLLER!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I have never made a resolution because I can never think of anything that I really want to improve upon that much. Of course, I figure that if it's something that I should start in the New Year, then it's something that I should have been working on before the New Year as well.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Ashleigh
4. Did anyone close to you die?
A few.
5. What countries did you visit?
none :( I've never left the US. Does anyone want to sponsor a young, blonde chick for a cruise around the world?
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Breasts. Maybe I can hit a growth spurt.
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 23, 2004. It was the day I flew back to Raleigh from Houston. Don't get me wrong, I loved Houston and my friends from TFA, but I missed blue skies, green grass, and clean air so much that the sight of Raleigh that evening was the most beautiful sight I have ever witnessed.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Being strong for my parents when they were going through a rough time. Being there for my mom and dad after my dad's accident was one of the hardest things I've had to do. It's so difficult to see my dad, a big burly guy, so vulnerable and in so much pain.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Probably French 202. I forgot to study. WHOOPS!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yeah, I got the norovirus from Rob. 2 days of nonstop puking and diarrhea. I blacked out from dehydration.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought those slinky eyeball glasses for my dad to wear to his doctor's appointment. Thank god he has a great sense of humor. I was afraid he'd be a little offended.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Almost everyone I know does something that redeems them in some way. Laurie Smith, my landlord, for not being mad when Christine forgot to pay rent while I was in Texas.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Maybe the person who came into the Oyster Bar and told me that he wanted to sit in my section so he could stiff me on the tip. Thanks asshole. Way to be a complete jerk. I don't go out of my way to be mean to people and I just ask that others give me the same consideration.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Paying for rent when my roommate was unable to.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Porn, Houston, UNC-TV, and snowskiing. That sport is addictive.
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
the skeet skeet song. It was the theme song of Kensington Park 2816-203.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier. I feel much more comfortable with my future and my personal identity.
ii. thinner or fatter? 15 pounds thinner. Maybe this is part of why I'm happier.
iii. richer or poorer? about the same
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
More traveling! Less work. I worked 30-40 hours per week while taking 16 credit hours in school this past semester and I barely got to see my friends. I missed having a social life. Oooh, and drinking. More drinking would have been great.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Gay porn flicks. And work.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Warren County then back at the Oyster Bar to make some bling.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
I'm too jaded to "fall in love". At least right now. I love Rob, but our relationship is too gradual for me to say that I FELL in love.
23. How many one-night stands?
I had a dream that I had sex with Bob Barker. I'm sure that counts for something.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Dr. Phil. Seriously. I don't really watch TV. If I'm at Rob's I'll watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Family Guy, but I'm not really motivated to watch TV these days.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes. I started hating our manager at work because he became a bigger dickhead.
26. What was the best book you read?
The second Bridget Jones' Diary.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Greater appreciation for OutKast and Beyonce.
28. What did you want and get?
I always get what I want. Probably the Chippendale strippers.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
This is embarassing, but Team America.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 21. I went to East Village and PB's and got so trashed that the bouncer had to carry me out of the bar. WHOOPS! I don't remember getting violently ill though.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A Kerry victory. A vibrator.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Bowtie, suspenders, tuxedo pants. :( I hate the Oyster Bar.
34. What kept you sane?
Beer. Friends. Gus.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Martha Stewart.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Abortion. ABORTIONS FOR ALL!!!
37. Who did you miss?
my KP neighbors when everyone started moving.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Jesus. I invited him into my heart and he brought a watermelon as a housewarming gift. Then my heart got indigestion and puked all over the place.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
If you open your heart, you may get hurt, but if you never open up then you'll never truly live.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"When I think about you I touch myself."
