So I had a pretty fun weekend. Friday night Mark and I went over to Chrissy and Tony’s place to watch the new Smallville as well as the first two episodes of The Walking Dead. Chrissy had a full spread for us and stuffed us full of pizza, tacos, monkey break, kettle corn, and candy! We should go to her place more often! Walking Dead seems pretty good so far. I have to say though, while it’s cool that AMC is running these really popular shows, I kind of miss when AMC was ya know, AMC. I loved watching the old movies they would play. Although I suppose it’s a moot point really considering I don’t have cable anyway.

Saturday I ran a bunch of jewelry related errands, to get the supplies needed for my next commission project…a ring with a cat on it. My idea is to forge a ring that I’ll etch a cat design on. I haven’t had luck finding a tiny cat stamp, so I think I’m going to attempt to draw one myself and make a stencil out of it. So I spent my day buying things like a heat gun, a hardcore double filtered respirator mask, ferric chloride solution, metal stamp ink, and a Dremel! I’m pretty excited about using the Dremel. There are attachments for everything! I have all the attachments I think I’ll need for grinding, polishing, and buffing, and at some point I want to get the scroll saw attachment so I can cut metal MUCH easier than I am now with the jeweler’s saw, and the workstation so I can use it as a drill press, and save my forearms from the pain of drilling metal by hand.

In the evening Mark and I went out again to El Salto, as surprise surprise I had a taco craving. ;) Then we spent the evening watching “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”. Mark just has to see one more movie and he’s all caught up before next weekend for the new Harry Potter movie!

Yesterday Esti hosted a craft party which was a lot of fun. It was great to see her, Kate, as well as meet some of her other crafty friends who were all super nice. One lady was super excited by my jewelry and said she wants me to host a craft party so I can teach her how to make jewelry. Hah hah Esti had quite a spread too! (I was spoiled this weekend) Lots of fancy teas, served in these gorgeous tea cups with vintage images screen printed on the cups and saucers, cookies, cupcakes, cheeses…I wound up making another of the bird nest necklace. I really liked the design and wanted to make one for myself. :)

Oh and I want to start designing a booth for when I do craft shows, and I want to design a logo and a banner and stuff. I asked Esti if she would be interested in doing the logo and banner design for me, and I told her I’d pay her for her time at whatever the rate was for doing that kind of stuff, and she told me she’d rather do the barter system so I told her ok well I’ll make you cupcakes and jewelry and she seemed pleased with that so score!

Then in the evening I cleaned for a bit and Mark and I ended the evening with pizza. Not a bad weekend. :)
