Chronology of [ major ] religions

Merriam Webster has a Visual Dictionary thing that looks like it could end up being neat, though it's still a little sparse, yet, I found this diagramme interesting.

Note that Buddhism, Shinto and Confucianism all start at the same time, and that Hinduism pre-dates Moses. EDIT: Several of you have alerted me to the incorrectness of this ( Read more... )

This is a lie. Hinduism is older than Judaism and pre-dates Abraham even. There are many sources that will show otherwise.

I concur. I think this graph is highly inaccurate. It may have the splits of Xian sects right, but that's about it.

Thanks to you and the others who awared me of this inaccurate information. One would think Merriam-Webster would be a more trustworthy source, somehow; I guess they're not encyclopedists who are habitual fact-checkers. I'll alert someone on the Visual Dictionary that this is inoorrect.

Appreciate the heads-up; I dun' like spreading misinfo.

Merriam-Webster - the pet project of a nutter on a self-imposed mission to standardise language, and not even having the decency to graft on Latin rules like a real grammarian. I'm not sure where he was pulling his spelling reforms from, but it certainly wasn't any external source... and given that kind of start, is it really any surprise?
