Chronology of [ major ] religions

Merriam Webster has a Visual Dictionary thing that looks like it could end up being neat, though it's still a little sparse, yet, I found this diagramme interesting.

Note that Buddhism, Shinto and Confucianism all start at the same time, and that Hinduism pre-dates Moses. EDIT: Several of you have alerted me to the incorrectness of this ( Read more... )

I'd say that the graph is very vaguely misleading at best re: what it is clearly not intended, which is "covering Eastern Religions". E.g., Shinto beliefs can be easily traced back to preHistory with native Japanese Shamanism, so to say that Shinto "started" a few hundred years before Jesus' birth is definitely misleading.

Now I wanna check my Comparative World Religions books (they're all right here), but I gotta get to work.

perhaps animism is more accurate.. shamanism is a form of animism :)
