When working on adding tracks to a 55 minute piece and your collaborator is other-coasted so must be sent the results via slow net-pipes the sensible thing to do is sectionalise them especially since they have silence-spots or fades befitting such ( Read more... )

Happy birthday (a teeny biy late, but then I am always a teeny bit late) Thank goodness time is not linear - although it is difficult to use that as an excuse for being late to work :-)

On a political note, one of my all time favorite anarchist activists in Lake Worth ran for mayor last year. It was a brilliant idea - the filing fees were not expensive and for his money he got months of free air time...they had to give him equal time on mainstream local news outlets on in town hall forums. And although he did not win, it was a great opportunity to get an alternative message out to the general public (they are fighting a major battle with some pharma company who wants to build a research institute on their wetlands, so I imaging this was a large part of what Peter talked about.) So no matter what the ultimate outcome of a race, running for local office is a good idea...one which allows the average citizen to put new memes out there...including secession.

The dominionists, in fact, are talking about trying to take over South Carolina. Bad news for a lot of folks in South Carolina, but for those of us who don't live there, it's a fine idea - let them have it. Maybe they will get the hell out of the rest of the country. And if there isn't enough room in SC, maybe they can have Oklahoma too - Inohofe (not sure I spelled that right - he's that wacko Senator) is already nuts and would make a super rallying point for other nuts...then the rest of us could go about the business of living our lives out in peace and all we'd have to do is avoid a state or two that I personally have never had much use for to begin with.

In doing this they are trying to emulate the Libertarians' Free State project. It just occurred to me, that this is how stupid the Dominionists are. Secesstion and taking over a state is a brilliant idea for those who are a minority party as it gives them a voice in every day affairs and the local environment that they spend most of their lives being affected by. The Dominionists, on the other hand, are already in power on a federal level, not to mention the fact that a lot of them hold power on a state and local level. By concentrating themselves in a single state, they would dilute their power exponentially. Really good news for the rest of the country. We should be taking flyers to every Baptist church in the country to encourage the faithful to pack up their belongings and go. I'd be willing to help them move...hell, I would hold telethons to help them raise money for it. "For less the ten cents a day, you can sponsor a needy Dominionist. We'll send you pictures of your nutcase...I mean Dominionist...holding their luggage and packing their moving van. They'll send you a post card from South Carolina."

Fuck, yes. They really need to take South Carolina. If I have to go up north for any reason, I can take the scenic route through Tennessee :-)
