[Action] had to get this up before the event started, whoops.

[It's early morning (still fairly dim outside) and Susumu finds himself... in a forest. Randomly. No explanations, no comrades, no clothes- at least not ones belonging to him. Probably not the most disturbing thing ever to happen to him, but considering it was practically inconceivable for someone to ambush and take him right out of the middle of ( Read more... )

[This is Derek. He has a sword strapped to his back, is in a clearing, and is doing...actually, today, he's doing regular old aikido kata rather than the weird-arse vampire hunter stuff. So, katana on back. Jeans, t-shirt that reads 'army'...barefooted...hmn.]

[Man with a katana practicing martial arts? It wouldn't seem the least bit unusual to Susumu except for two things- he had wings, and he wasn't Japanese. What was a foreigner doing with a samurai's weapon?

His curiosity is definitely piqued, so Susumu's going to try to get closer and watch him work.]

[Derek keeps practicing, seemingly completely oblivious until Susumu gets within a few yards.

At that point, Derek will pause in his stance, cocking his head as if listening...and seeming to sniff the air.

He tenses, but lowers the sword, speaking quietly]

...Friend or foe, please.

[....Did he just sniff him out. That's different.

There's a long pause, and Susumu finally responds, though he doesn't leave his tree. Not when the guy is armed, thank you very much.]

I can't answer that when I don't know who you are.

[Fair enough. Derek will sheath his sword and hold his hands out where they can be easily seen.]

Derek Bliss. Earth. American. From approximately 2002 AD.

[...Okay, that's fair. Susumu's not sure about coming down yet, though he does shift to a closer branch so he's less hidden. Americans are dangerous. Americans have guns.

Also he has no idea what 2002 AD means, so the future reference is woefully lost on him for the moment.]

You're a foreigner.

In this place, we're all foreigners.

[Derek will take in what he can see of the clothing.]

..You're from Japan?...Nippon?

[All foreigners? That's just foolish talk. Someone has to be native to this land.]

...I am.

Just got here?

So it seems. [Susumu glances around, briefly.] What can you tell me of this place? [And why is it overrun with foreigners.]

It's called Luceti. It's under the control of a group of people known as the Malnosso. People are pulled here randomly from their own worlds, and then the Malnosso conduct experiments on the residents.

...And not even the Malnosso know how to send us home.

[....Well, that's more than a little disconcerting. What's worse is that this man seems serious about his ridiculous claim. then again by now he's not the first, huzzah for timeline shifts]

...And the wings?

Supposedly they keep us alive and in synch with this world. Other than that, I don't know. Just don't try taking them off; you'll regret it.

Why can't they be removed? [That sounds like a threat.]

Take one off, and you might bleed to death. Taking them both off kills you instantly. However they're attached, it's pretty intimately.

[...That sounds unpleasant. To have such an obvious weakness at his back is very bad for someone like him; immediately his mind is filing away the memo "get those wings out of reach".

He nods to Derek in thanks; that's useful information, for sure.]
