In the midst of all of the ups and downs of the last week, I’ve had some good experiences .. ones that come out of simply having (or allowing myself) more freedom.
- I’ve been sleeping great. Not having someone else in the room with the light on when I’m trying to go to sleep is big. I haven’t even set an alarm yet .. I’ve been waking up when I need to.
- The night after I moved in, I went out with the good friend who helped me move the last bit of my stuff. We were supposed to go to a movie, but we ended up doing something I enjoyed even more: just having dinner and a few beers, getting back home at 11:30, and not feeling one bit guilty. Wonderful!
- Wed afternoon about 5pm I got an email from the local folk/acoustic music club Eddie’s Attic; there was a show by a band called The Waybacks. I’d never heard of them, but a visit to their web site convinced me that it was worth a try. So I went down to Decatur for the 7:30 show, and had a great time. (The Waybacks were wonderful. Great band!)
Nothing earthshaking; just simple things. But sometimes those simple things are the difference between a mundane life and a good one.
