Well today was interesting. Over the last few days I've had a headache, been lightheaded at times, had a random pain in my left side, and had a high fever (topping out at 104). So this morning I got up in the morning and felt like shit. I was really nauseous and dizzy and still had a 100 degree fever. So I get up to go to the kitchen to grab some orange juice. I hear a loud thud and next thing I know I'm waking up on the floor. I distinctly remember hearing the sound of it and I remember thinking "OMG I fell" but that felt kind of like a dream and I have no memory of what actually happened. I woke up bleeding rather badly as I must have hit something (who knows what) when I blacked out). I had a huge chunk of skin taken out from under my chin. I ended up calling my parents to drive me to the hospital because I was afraid I could black out again if I tried driving myself.
So thus began my trip to U of M Hospital. I had a bunch of tests done (blood, xray, CT scan) and got 2 bags of fluid by IV (2 liters I think). I ended up needed 6 stitches in my chin. The final diagnosis was Mono and the fainting was caused by severe dehydration (I lost my appetite and hadn't eaten or drunk anything since lunch the previous day). No contact sports for 4 weeks (mono causes your spleen to become enlarged, so any hit or fall I take could cause a rupture) and the stitches come out in 1-2 weeks (depending of how its heeling). Other then that all I can do is wait it out. Mono usually goes away in a couple weeks.
