Someone at work yesterday entertained us with a few brainteasers, and so I now post one for you all to solve.

"Let's return to the scene" said Detective Shadow.
Shadow and Roger Ragtop drove to the deserted storage house. They walked down one of the many halls on the 3rd floor and stopped in front of the 9th door on the left hand side. The area had been condoned off with police tape. Shadow removed the tape and pulled the door opened. They entered the room and Roger retold the story.
" Sam Slug swore he was going to kill me when he got out of jail. Last week he was released. He saw me on the street and so i turned around and ran to this old storage house with so many rooms. I didn't think he would find me. Then to my horror, I saw the doorknob turn and as the door started to swing toward me, I panicked and started to shoot. I didnt mean to kill him, but rather scare him off."
Shadow looked at Roger and replied : "That story will never hold up"
why not?
