Tip of the Hat -- Catherine Friend's New Novel!
I received my latest shipment of Bold Strokes books with excitement this month, because I've been looking forward to reading A Pirate's Heart, Catherine Friend's lesbian pirate novel. ♥ Shasta and I started reading it just this weekend, and imagine my delight to find that Catherine, doll that she is, has written a little tip-of-the-hat to Branded Ann into her story!! I was so surprised and flattered... what an awesome thing to do.
So, tit for tat -- if you liked Branded Ann you should go pick up this new book.
It's a pirate story with many similarities to Branded Ann... but many unique differences too. For one thing, it intertwines both a historical and contemporary storyline, and features more than just one romance. ^~
In other news, I have updated my website for the first time in ages! Since the purchase of my new house I've been spending alllllll my time (and money) working on home improvement projects, which has left precious little time for writing or maintaining my writing site. BUT, I discovered yesterday that while I've been on writing-hiatus, Branded Ann has been reviewed in several awesome publications including the October '08 issue of Curve and the Spring/Summer '08 Lambda Book Report. (Trying to get copies of both as we speak...) It's also been nominated for an '08 Lambda Literary Award! ♥ So check out my website for these reviews and more... And stay tuned for photo album updates and what will hopefully be some announcements of future signing/reading events. :)
