Note that is only one of several ways to beat the game. This walkthrough hopefully will be helpful for new players, people who have problems and especially those who try to play in offline mode.
With my heartfelt thanks to my friend
hnhatthanh for all his help and pointing out many details I would have overlooked otherwise.
← Back to part 1 Shop: While you can afford one or the other item now, I'd recommend saving your money for either the Ice Staff (you need one Iron Ore) or the Shadow Garb and Ninja Hood (or Ninja Mask) from the Secret Shop. We also will replace one of our team members now.
Formation: Dismiss Jacky.
Tavern: Hire Ling. She has 2 AP and is a strong enough fighter. With her in your team, you should be able to clear some more dungeons without any problems.
Mission HQ: Leave the „Forest Stalkers“ and all missions that reward 200 HR points or more for now. Dungeons you should be able to beat easily are listed below:
Slay Goblin Ninja: This will be your next grinding spot (should you get stuck somewhere), as it rewards 125 HR points and also 3 Popo's Hammers each time you beat it.
Defeat Red: Should you want items that require Iron Ores as component (like Ice Staff or Bloody Axe), this is a good mission for farming them.
After clearing those two dungeons you own your first Iron Ore, your avatar should be level 9.
Shop: Those who only want the Medium Badge, now best buy the
Ice Staff for their avatar. Others might want to save their Gold for the
Shadow Garb (from Loki's Secret Shop). See
Frequently Asked Player Questions for how to make the Secret Shop appear when you need it. Should you choose to use the Ice Staff, you will notice that you can't build long combo chains with your avatar alone. Freeze doesn't always work, for maximum damage you might want to send Ling in-between. Maybe try an earlier, very easy mission again and/or use normal Enemy Encounters to practice timing.
Missions you may want to try:
(It is up to you in what order you play through the different missions, you don't necessarily have to follow the order suggested below. With your character wielding the Ice Staff none of them should be a problem at all. Otherwise, Ling still should be able to deal with most Bosses. Only when you get hopelessly stuck or are in desperate need of Popo's Hammers and don't want to spend money for them, return to Slay Goblin Ninja and repeat it until you reach Hunter Rank 2 and/or have all the Popo's Hammers you want.)
„Sewer Rat“
„Bonito & Julia“: (After beating this mission, my avatar reached level 10.)
„Luffy, The Wolf-Man“: (I know it is „Luffy Wolfmen“ in the game, but I couldn't help myself, my inner auto-correction was on, sorry.)
„Red Assassin Wannabe“: While it doesn't count towards the in-game achievements, it is easy to beat.
„Lost Mage?“: Your next grinding spot, as this mission rewards 250 HR points.
Congratulations, you just earned your next achievement: „Average Adventurer“. (Carlos, my avatar, also reached level 11.)
A note on the „Wanderer“ in offline mode: They are much weaker and easier to beat here, most of the time even easier than normal enemies. As an example, when I clicked „Wanderer Encounter“ on my way to Luffy, one single „Hunter_F“ appeared. She was level 4 with 479 HP. I don't know the exact formula, but their level probably depends on the dungeon difficulty level in combination with the area number.
Equip/Formation: If your character doesn't have the Ice Staff, you now should equip the Garuda Shield you just got. Depending on what armor you bought (Shadow Garb or what ever you choose), your avatar also might have more HP than Lulu. If this is the case, adjust your formation. With the shield, you avatar even can semi-tank for Ling from now on (she probably still has more HP, but for that, your character has regeneration).
Mission HQ: As beating the „Forest Stalkers“ is shorter than „Scarecrow Invitation“ (and also easier), we will show them who the Boss is next (or choose whatever dungeon you haven't cleared yet).
Congratulations, you earned the Medium Badge!
Equip: Keep track of your job class. Especially for offline mode I'd recommend a Rogue/Assassin career for your avatar with switching him or her back to Fighter from time to time (should you not be able to beat a Boss in one turn even with the extra AP and need more HP instead) and maybe a dual-build as Warrior or Paladin in chapter 6.
Mission HQ: Now it is time for the „Scarecrow Invitation“--or whatever you feel like trying next.
I wouldn't call it grinding: As I was close to Hunter Rank 2, I repeated „Lost Mage?“ once. (Carlos reached Rookie Rank 3 at this point, but as I had planned to make him a Rogue, I didn't assign the Fighter class yet.)
