I wish tomorrow was not my last day here.
Today was amazing. We went to Washington DC and saw the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean and Vietnam war Memorials, and the Washington Monument. As we walked down to the National Art Gallery we could see the White House. (unfortunatly we didn't make it to the gallery in time to see anything since it closes at 5pm). I've never been interested in our country's history but just over the several times we got lost driving around there we saw so many amazing things. It's really quite awe inspiring to be there with all the craziness going on, and so many people from everywhere. We saw a bunch of different embassies as we drove through; Zambia, South Africa, Korea, Romainia, New Zealand... and there were ornate churches and even a mosque and some other kind of Muslim temple. The architecture on almost every building was amazing. It was unreal driving through all of this and seeing statues and buildings that I've only ever seen on tv or in books before. It was hard to believe I was at the nation's capital city. It was spectacular. The shear size and brilliance of everything we saw was unreal. You never really know what it's like to be so close, to actually see, to stand by these memorials of our history until you experience it. Even seeing the White House from afar was unreal. I never imgined I'd have the chance to see or be so close to any of these things.
My baby may not know it, but visiting him has given me an experience I thought I would never have.
Tomorrow, though I'm sad it's our last full day together, is going to be the best... We're going to Westminster Cemetery in Baltimore. Not only did I never expect to ever get to go there, but it's one of the few places in the US that I've dreamed of visiting. There's hardly anything else that could be so iconic for me...
