Back on LJ for a spur-of-the-moment ranting post.
I am getting sick and tired of hearing - for years now - the constant debate of PC vs Mac.
Really guys. This needs to stop. Macs are no better than PCs, and I'm tired of hearing people arbitrarily state that PCs are best for businesses and calculations and spreadsheets while Macs are the comp to use "if you want to do anything useful".
Really? Really?!
1. "Macs never get viruses." Why? Two reasons: A. Macs have a special OS that is difficult to crack compared to Windows, and B. No one's bothered to write any for it for the past 30 years because it's never been industry standard (in other words, hackers never really cared because Mac was never popular enough -- note: WAS).
2. "PCs are good for business and calculations; Macs are good for art and 'anything useful'." What makes your computer good at one 'subject' or another is not the manufacturer - IT'S THE SOFTWARE. Most of the best software programs available are compatable with both systems, so it really doesn't matter what you use. Now, what allows you to RUN the best software possible? THE HARDWARE. The MAKE DOESN'T MATTER as long as you have the HARDWARE needed to support the SOFTWARE.
Each has it's own Pros and Cons, people. This is like debating sweaters vs. sweatshirts. One person likes sweaters for that 'homespun clothing' feel, another hates them because of how scratchy wool is. One person likes sweatshirts because they're "warm and fuzzy", another hates them because of how the fabric can 'pill' or ball up and wear down. But guess what? IT'S CLOTHING. Sweater or sweatshirt, they ACCOMPLISH THE SAME TASK - KEEPING YOU WARM AND DRY.
EDIT: I've found a relief. Anytime people start debating PC vs Mac, I will just go play this game in the meantime -
