Stuff & Things

new_man and I have been watching Person of Interest on Netflix. We're almost at the end of season 2. Holy hell, this show is good! The storytelling is fantastic and the creator is clearly in it for the long game. We figured out early on that *everything* is important and not to ignore any detail.

And we find ourselves particularly concerned about Bear's well-being, especially when he's not to be seen in the Library. I'm delighted that he's a full-fledged character and a dog of many talents.

Harold's theme for his pseudonyms is apparent and entertaining (which bird will he pick this time?). I noticed that all of John's aliases are names that contain double letters. Probably nothing but coincidence...

At the end of a recent episode, Finch offers his number to someone. There's a clear shot of the card and it's a real phone number. So I called...

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a squirrel's tail sticking out from the corner of the house (we don't have a foundation under the mudroom & pantry). Being an independent and fully-empowered woman, I asked new_man to get rid of the dead thing under the house. He couldn't -- it was stuck on something. So, we did that most reasonable thing. We ignored it. This morning as I was taking veggies scraps out to the composter, I saw that something had been digging under the house. And the squirrel, quite mummified, had been dragged out and abandoned. How kind of something. Needless to say, said squirrel is no longer a resident of our backyard.

Did I mention that we retiled the backsplash by the kitchen sink. It looks terrific, if I do say so myself. We removed the single row of black square tiles and replaced them with two rows of white subway tiles topped with a row of black bullnose. Next step is going to be to tile the other backsplash. That one is a little trickier as it involves tiling the entire wall behind the stove, but I know we can do it.

Sour cherries might be ready for picking this weekend, which is a touch early. I'm a little concerned about the crop this year since we had such a mild winter (not that I'm complaining!).
