The Thanksgiving Horror picture show and other stories
•car problems: the axle on our car BROKE APART one night while mom and I were running errands! At the absolute most basic definition, an axle is a bar your two front wheels or two back wheels sit on underneath the car. Fortunately, we were close to home when it happened, and while mom was on the phone with a tow company, the police came and pushed the car off the street.
•One for the Pop-Tart Eaters: anyone been getting already-stale pop tarts? I got a small box from the local grocery store, and they were all stale. Then I got my usual 3-flavor big box from Sam's Club and tested one from each flavor, and THEY were all stale! Both boxes' expiration date isn't until next year. My best guess is that the "normal" flavors all sat around the factory/grocery stores while people were buying up the special holiday flavors.
•the Thanksgiving Horror Picture show: dad got a cold right before Thanksgiving. By thanksgiving morning, mom had it, and no one felt like doing anything festive. So we just ordered Denny's and brought it home to eat. I got hit with the cold on Thursday. I had chest congestion, so I used some Vicks vaporub, but then I started sweating/chills, which made my skin react badly to the fumes. Even now, a week later, my chest and neck are still sensitive.
