Pierrefonds - 11 September

A brief report on our first day of filming in rainy Pierrefonds!

So far, there are no real spoilers involved beyond sketchy descriptions of scenes.

I had a lovely day today despite the inclement weather, meeting up with a whole lot of familiar faces! {waves} There are a lot of fans here, of course, as we all make the most of it just in case this is the last shoot in Pierrefonds.

I arrived about ten, to find that Colin had already arrived, shot a scene, and left again. So they had quite an early start.

I headed into the courtyard to find a big scene being shot with director Justin Molotnikov. Horses, lots of extra knights, as well as Bradley, Angel, Rupert and Tom. The rain was a bit on-again, off-again. Umbrellas were out in force, especially for the stars. There was some concern about Rupert's hair going ... gosh, a funny phrase was used, which I can't remember. Anyhow. Oh dear! The Leon mane gets frizzy in the rain!

Once again, it seemed the knights were riding out on a mission. I thought that Gwen might be going, too, as she was in a cloak and had gorgeous purple gloves on, perfect for riding. Again, a lovely costume, all purple and grey. But she also seemed to be needing to tell Arthur something rather urgently, which implies her usual role of farewelling them. There was a nice bit at the end where Gwen and Arthur join hands, for which Justin filmed a close-up.

Then everyone headed upstairs into the main hall for scene/s which took most of the afternoon to shoot. I didn't get any sense of what was going on. Colin came back in for this, and I think Eoin arrived for it, too. {senior moment}

Then towards the end of the afternoon, they started setting up another courtyard scene. Alas, we didn't get to see very much, as it was getting towards closing time. Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy were there with Rachel Knight, and a man who seemed to be the director (but I didn't recognise him) which would make the scene for episode 10 or 11. This seemed pretty exciting, I have to say! Gaius (well, OK, a double for Gaius) rode into the courtyard at a cracking pace, where he was met by Gwaine. Something must have been urgent, to have Gaius out and about!

And that was pretty much it! I'll start uploading my photos to flickr now. Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
