My wording is probs dodgy, as I've not had a tremendous amount of sleep - we still allow adult content, but we have to play by LJ's "rules"

For you and the other mod teams: thank you for handling this in a sensible and effective fashion.
Guess this is the week that I take all my fic off LJ! Or start doing so, anyway.

NP, 'tis what we're here for, and we're grateful to our members for being so patient with us :D
It's a shame that LJ are being funny now, and there must be a reason for it, or some sort of trigger. I endevour to find that reason/trigger and use it to whip them on how daft they're being. This may or may not be succesful, but I'm going to try.

I thought it was fine, though they should have told the mods of the communities to flag entires before they put a blanket rating on the whole community. They also understood my concern about it being a slash thing.
Putting adults filters on specific entires is a valid request I think.

My issue lies not with the request itself, but in the way they conducted themselves. It took the mods of tens of comms contacting LJ before we even knew a smidgen of what as happening. If they'd contacted us and asked us to put filters up, I wouldn't have had an issue, but they didn't, and I do. Because they're breaking their own Terms of Service by not working with us, and then having the cheek to lecture us on how to run our comm, and it's making for one very unhappy mod team :/
Although I am glad they understood our concerns about it being a slash issue :)

Thank you for your inquiry. When we become aware of explicit adult content in journals, communities, or entries, we reserve the right to set an administrative flag if the content is not already flagged by the author or maintainer ( ... )

A simple request would have been enough - we're not going to say no, bc that would put the whole comm at risk. And they really, really need to work on their communication policy *sigh*

Thank you to you and the other mods who have jumped in to deal with this newest round of LJ bs.

NP bb, 'tis what we're here for, even if LJ don't think we can do our jobs *shakes fist*
Edited for a minor spelling mistake that cocked up the whole first sentence *facepalm*

And this whole thing, btw, is why the handy little "flag this as inappropriate" buttons on every entry have been skeeving me out from the beginning. Sure, LJ is just responding to reports... and it's not their fault if they've set up a system that penalizes content that's more likely to be reported... like non-het content... oh wait, I think I need another sarcasm tag. *headdesk*

Flag buttons don't bother me, but I believe those buttons should be passed on to the mods to deal with, and only get LJ involved if it can't be resolved. THAT IS WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR, LJ *hands in air*
