Movie Squee: Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho/The Way He Looks (2014)

Okay, can I just ... I haven't done this in forever (or, ever?), but seriously, if you have a free hour and are in need of some cheering up, you totally have to watch this movie (it's on Netflix!).And then you should definitely write some fanfiction, or make art or icons, because I've watched the movie about 20 times and I have seen the bonus features on the DVD, and the trailers, and I just want more.

So, funny story: This movie started as a short film, which was shot in 2010. The short is on youtube, here:

Which is super cute and adorable and all kinds of things. And apparently it was so successful that they turned it into a feature film three years later, with the same actors, and basically the same story, although there are quite a few differences in terms of plot development and characterization, and of course the feature film tells a far more complex story. The plot is pretty simple: Blind boy and girl are BFFs, new guy starts at their school, and there is some back and forth about who's in love with whom, although the poster already kind of gives you a hint as to how that's going to turn out. But there is just something so touching and lovely about the way this is filmed, very sweet and realistic and understated, and the actors have wonderful chemistry.
