Summary: Barca had not known it then, but much later he understood that it was that moment when Bastet had chosen him to be the protector of this child from her lands, when she had tested Barca and found him worthy, despite all the darkness in his heart. Set during Season 2, Episode 3

Inspired by the following (ancient) prompt on the Spartacus Kink Meme: "Barca wasn't killed by Batiatus and Pietros wasn't raped and didn't kill himself. they stay at the ludus until the rebellion and leave with the rest though Pietros is injured, not killed. I want oh thank god we're free sex and Barca taking care with Pietros injury and generally being very caring and loving"
There is this older woman in Season 2, and I don't know if she has an actual name, but she is in this story (briefly) and I called her Maena.
