Movie #1: Toy Story 3: I actually think I liked this part better than the first two movies.
I know that some of you guys are very fond of Toy Story, so I hope I'm not offending anyone if I say that while I enjoyed part 1 and 2, I also had to grit my teeth sometimes at the way they were trying to knock the not-so-subtle message into us with a building brick. I liked part 3 because it was refreshingly and suprisingly creepy ... pet sematary, much?
I also liked that it was a girl who got Andy's toys in the end - yay for equality! Boys are not the only ones who can play with action figures! And I didn't think I'd ever utter this sentence, but ... Barbie rocked.
Movie #2: Salt: I don't have much to say about the movie itself, other than that I'm surprised that they still make movies where the Russians are the bad guys.
Hello, this is not 1980! I thought we were over this. I have, however, a lot to say about the casting: (a) God, Liev Schreiber is so sexy. I know that he looks a bit like a dog, but seriously, his sexiness makes me go all week in the knees. Especially in a suit. Oh, he's great in any role - no matter if it's a drag queen with a gun, or Sabretooth -, but in a suit ... gah. (b) Why did nobody tell me that Angelina Jolie's husband is played by August Diehl? (Most of you probably only know him from Inglorious Basterds, but he's one of the actors of the "new young German cinema" ... he started to become famous about 15 years ago when German filmmakers finally started to do more than just dumb comedies and holocaust movies again). Anyway, I was so happy about seeing a German character that was actually thoroughly nice that I didn't even care that one of the five lines he had was: "Germans don't joke." Heee.
Little Black Dresses of Fandom:
So, I got sucked into Criminal Minds (finally, after
thexpuzzler recommended it a while ago), and I spent a lot of time these past two weeks reading CM fanfic, or more specifically: Morgan/Reid and Hotch/Reid and Rossi/Reid. (Oh Reid. Apparently I have a soft spot for socially awkward geniuses. *points to icon*) And that reminded me that
_harmlessthings once told me that she liked how I obviously had one "little black dress" for each of my fandoms - aka the one character that I like so much that I basically ship them with everyone else. And it's true. I think I'm not so much monogamous in regard to ships as I am in regard to characters.
Take Eliot Spencer, for example: While I'm mostly a Eliot/Hardison and Eliot/Parker/Hardison shipper, I also like Eliot/Nate, Eliot/Sterling, Eliot/Maggie ... oh, what the hell, if someone wrote Eliot/orange soda, I'd probably read that too. I think Kurt Hummel might be the blackest of all my LBDs (I don't care if he gets it on with Sue Sylvester, Howard Bamboo or his Prada messenger bag, as long as he gets some action); other nice black dresses of mine are Kevin Walker, Simon Tam, Charlie Eppes, Merlin Emrys, Sam Winchester, Spencer Reid, John Watson, Javier Esposito ....
What about you? What are your LBDs? Or are you not a LBD person at all? And what do you think do a person's LBDs say about their character?
