A few things/vague update.

Apr 20, 2011 21:51

1. The fact that everytime my computer goes to sleep and then wakes up again it loses my mobile modem and I have to reboot gets REALLY annoying. Although it doesn't do it as often as my old computer.

2. I have no mobile broadband allowance left and am paying 11 cents a megabyte for this post.

3. It turns out that Project Runway isn't on tonight like I thought ::sulks::

4. Facebook doesn't let you make long enough posts to do a really good update.

5. Starting today I have a week off (I added two days annual leave to Easter).

6. I began my holiday by going to a surgery follow up appointment - the clinic was only running an hour late (unlike last month where I waited two hours and never got seen cos there was an emergency). This is a miracle.

7. I had to bully the registrar to take me seriously, but he finally got the message that I am getting increasingly bad heartburn and no, I'm not going to settle for just taking antacids for the rest of my life. So he went to talk to my actual surgeon and, knock me over with a feather, my surgeon actually came to talk to me!! I haven't seen the man since he lolled about on my bed two days after my surgery!! But he (the surgeon) said to try the antacid for a month, and then he'd see me again, and if needed we'd do further investigations. This makes me much happier.

8. On Saturday it is exactly two years since my surgery.

9. After the hospital I bought myself an easter egg - Lindt chocolate bunnies! NOM!

10. After that I drove to the Milton Wool shop. Why yes, I am addicted to taking road trips to the factory shop. SO MUCH CHEAP BUT EXTRAORDINARILY HIGH QUALITY WOOL!

11. Despite my addiction, I didn't actually buy anything!! GO ME! Well, I bought some baby wool for a woman at work but she paid for that, and I bought two dollars worth of fleece for when I learn to spin, but none of that counts. I was tempted by stuff, but decided to save my money . . . and take another trip NEXT MONTH!! HEEEHEE! (they might have different stuff in stock then - it's kinda random what they have, cos it depends on what they have left over from their export batches, or what mistakes they make in their experimental batches).

12. Then I came back to Dunedin and went to the library - did you know that if you avoid the library for long enough, all your overdue fines disappear. So does your membership but that was easily solved. I got books! YAY!

13. I did kinda regret going to the library because while I was there I saw a creepy person who possibly shouldn't have been in the library, so at that point I had to go into work (on my day off!) to talk to my senior type people . . . then I had to write an email detailing what I saw. ::sighs::

14. But then on with my holiday! Off to rent DVD's to watch while knitting! YAY!

15. So to recount - I came home with chocolate easter eggs, books, dvds, and enough knitting to do to last me a century. I have everything I could possibly need for my holiday, yay!!

16. Fed kitties lamb chops for tea. Minx didn't seem fussed, silly cat, because I put it in her bowl, and it's not as much fun when you're actually allowed to eat it!

17. Spent the evening knitting and nomming easter eggs BECAUSE . . .

18. As of tomorrow I'm doing the five day pouch test for weight loss surgery patients - you basically go back to the basics of post surgery eating and do liquids (protien shakes etc) for a couple of days, then purees, then soft foods etc etc. I do this partly to lose weight, but also to see if it will rest my tummy and settle the heart burn. It will also allow me to 'recalibrate' my portion sizing cos they keep creeping upwards. So no more easter eggs or hot cross buns for me! Lotsa protien shakes and exercise!

19. The rest of easter will be spent knitting, reading and pottering with the housework. Mebbe church on Sunday.

20. Just to give you advanced warning, next Wednesday International Administrative Professionals Day. All gifts gratefully accepted.

21. I want this: www.amazon.com/Knitters-Book-Finishing-Techniques/dp/B000Q6PPBW/ref=sr_1_2

or this: http://www.amazon.com/Finishing-Techniques-Hand-Knitters-Professional/dp/1570763364/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1303292925&sr=8-3

22. There is no 22. Kthanxbai.

21a (I told you there was no 22). Ha! I wasn't going to watch Project Runway, I was going to watch the homocidal maniac program on the other channel - research for work, obviously.
